Response to emails from the President

I got another email from the White House yesterday.  I get these periodically although my friends do not.  I assume I am getting them because I do communicate with the White House on issues about which I feel strongly.  My communications have consisted of strong opposition to card check, cap and trade and health care and perhaps a few other issues I have forgotten.  As with my other elected representatives, I am certain no one read my carefully structured and concise comments.  Instead they have mined my email address assuming that I can be used to further their sweeping agendas.  So although I am tired, disallusioned and cynical about any effect my efforts will have or have had, I am once again sending personal correspondence to the President.  Since I am almost certain that no one will read it, or if read, will consider my points or respond in any thoughtful, or really any, manner, I have decided to post the letter here as well in hopes that someone will read and share my concerns.  So, here goes!

Dear Mr. President:

You, or someone acting on your behalf and signing your name, have been sending me email recently encouraging me to support your various initiatives. Since you are reaching out to me to further your agenda, I feel compelled to carefully articulate my response to the cascade of financially disasterous pieces of legislation you are ramrodding through Congress.   In addition I want to express my strong objection to your mispresentation of each initiative as a crisis demanding immediate, urgent attention.  Although you promised transparancy, what you have delivered is obsfucation and deception.  You have done so in so masterful a way as to be the most frightening and dangerous President in my lifetime.

Let me start with card check which is fraudently called the Employee Free Choice Act.  I voted Democratic until Bill Clinton's second term, at which time I personally witnessed the payback by the Administration to a corrupt Union.  Compared to what you are prepared to do in return for Union support, Clinton's intervention with the Justice Department to stop criminal investigations seems innocent.  Card check is diametrically opposed to one of the foundations of this country, which is a secret ballot.  There will be no free choice, which of course is exactly the point of this initiation.  It is payback plain and simple and it will harm business, individuals and the country.  Your Administration's brazen misrepresentation of this initiative is reprehensible and I will continue to oppose this and to urge friends, family and strangers to oppose this unAmerican bill.

Cap and Trade has the dubious distinction of accomplishing nothing in terms of reducing C02 worldwide while financially ruining this country.  It will, however, further enrich Al Gore who has already amassed enormous wealth pursuing and advocating for such legislation while doing more than almost any one single individual to increase C02 emissions.  Another beneficiary will be GE, which should have citizens marching in the street considering the too numerous to list conflicts of interest between your Administration and Jeffrey Immelt and GE.  The same people who excoriated Cheney about Haliburton seem totally unaware of your inappropriate if not illegal relationship with GE.  As with card check, I will continue to strongly oppose this disasterous proposal.

Your push to impose Government controlled Health Care on this country in spite of opposition by the majority of Americans is stunning in it's arrogance.  As is your practice, you have labeled this is a crisis which requires urgent and immediate action.  Health care is not something that needs to be hastily passed in the next month.  This financial backbreaker needs careful, studious analysis and discussion with the American people. In addition, Jeff Immelt and GE stand to become enormously enriched by this legislation. That would be the same GE who supplied critical materials for weapons to Iran.  As with card check and cap and trade, I will work tirelessly to oppose this radical and rash approach to something which will fundamentally change my life and the lives of all Americans.

I do not trust you, as you have not been honest, open or transparent in any of your interactions with the people of this country.  You are overwhelming the system in an effort to push forward a radical, dangerous and financially disasterous agenda.  I also feel that you are willing to do anything to push your agenda, including punishing or destroying those who oppose you.  So I send this letter with some trepidation about potential punitive actions that could affect me personally.  However, I also feel a responsibility to stand up for the values that I hold so dear that are disappearing from this country under your leadership.
